A QUICK LIST OF 12 GREAT GIFTS THAT PROMOTE HEALTH AND WELLNESS

#1. THE USUIE RED LIGHT THERAPY BELT

This belt is FDA certified and offers red light and infrared therapy. Red light penetrates the skin and promotes cell metabolism, skin repair, and muscle pain relief. Infrared light penetrates deeper for tissue healing, increased blood flow, detoxification, and cell regeneration.

Most at-home therapy belts of this type are not as strong as those in the professional setting, but you can't beat the convenience they offer. To learn more about red light therapy belts, click here.

#2. THE LUX DAYLIGHT LAMP

I used this lamp to help reset my internal clock when I was working to improve my sleep cycle, but this type of therapy can also work well for seasonal affective disorder and other depressions. The lamp simulates sunlight, but without the UV rays, and can promote the production of serotonin, melatonin and vitamin D.

If you tend to wake up at a certain time in the early am, use this lamp for 20 minutes during the opposite pm hour. For example, if you are consistently waking up at 2am, then use this lamp for 20 minutes each afternoon at 2pm, especially if getting out into the sun at 2pm isn't possible.

There really is no no replacement for actual sunlight (which we need), but this lamp offers a great substitute when getting into the sun just isn’t an option. To learn more about light therapy lamps, click here and here.

#3. THE EPIC WATER FILTER

I’ve been using this filter for several years now. It’s ratings and filtration are top of the line and I picked this filter, after extensive research, because of its solid carbon block filter that removes plastics, chlorine, lead, Chromium 6, Fluoride, Chloramines, bromodichloromethane and much more. This filter was also rated best overall by EWG.org.

#4. THE LMNT ELECTROLYTE PACKETS

A high percentage of individuals today are chronically dehydrated. The body needs water for every chemical reaction that occurs in the body, and it will function with less efficiency when dehydrated. Taking electrolytes can boost hydration status.

I spend a significant amount of time sweating, so replacing electrolytes and staying hydrated is important to me. Additionally, I find my brain fog returns or worsens when I'm dehydrated, so electrolytes are key to my healing and health.

The LMNT electrolyte packets are quite tasty due to the stevia added to them, but keep in mind that too many electrolytes can be just as dangerous as too few, so seek guidance from a trusted provider if you have questions on their use. To learn more about electrolytes, click here.

This facial sunscreen is an EWG verified product and has a nice subtle tinting that works well with most skin tones. I also love that it’s a solid bar and travels easily!

#6. THE AMAZON BASICS DIGITAL KITCHEN FOOD SCALE

For those trying to measure out the amount of food they are eating, this scale is really good. It holds up to 11lbs and has taught me a lot about what serving sizes actually look like. To learn more about portion sizes, click here.

#7. THE UOPON WEIGHT VEST

I started using a weighted vest when I turned 50, and began peri-menopause. These vests can help improve muscle strength, bone health, and adds additional resistance to workouts. I’ll wear this vest around the house while I do chores, during my workouts, and when I take walks. I also like that this vest has six 1lb bags that can be added or removed, making this vest 6lb up to 12lb, so it grows with me.

It's important to remember that this vest isn't a replacement for strength training, which is an essential part of aging well. To learn more about weighted vests, click here.

#8. THE RENOJ RESISTANCE BANDS

I started using resistance bands last year after a hip injury left me with torn cartilage and a lot of pain. Today I’m back to being pain free due to my consistent stretch band workouts! These bands offer great resistance training capability that improves muscle strength, flexibility, and are low impact. I also like the fact that they are affordable, travel easily, and adapt for less or more resistance, depending on what is needed. To learn more about resistance bands, click here.

Resistance bands in shades of pink and purple are labeled from X-Light to X-Heavy with weight ranges 5-40 lbs. Strength chart shown.

#9. SPORTS RESEARCH COLLAGEN PEPTIDES

Collagen peptides help with skin hydration, elasticity, joint health support and improved nail and hair health. I like the Sports Research brand because their product dissolves completely in my drinks and doesn’t add any flavor. To learn more about collagen peptides, click here.

#10. THE FRIGIDAIRE 50-PINT DEHUMIDIFIER

It is estimated that almost half of the homes in the US have mold issues. Mold contributes to a number of health conditions such as asthma and other lung diseases, sinus issues, and even autoimmunity. Keeping the humidity down in the home is key in mold prevention, and in addition to buying the dehumidifiers, we also got the ThermoPro Humidity Guage, so we know the actual humidity level in our home. #11. PURE STEVIA

Because I eat a (mostly) sugar free diet, I have made the switch from processed sugar to stevia. My issue with most stevia products, however, is that they are mixed with other sweeteners, such as maltodextrin or erythritol. I try, when possible, to only use pure stevia, but keep in mind pure stevia is much sweeter, and it has a light powdery texture, so you’ll need to be careful when using it, so you aren’t dealing with a cloud of sweet. To learn more about stevia, click here.

#12. THE CSM DRY BRUSH

Dry brushing can help exfoliate and detoxify the skin, stimulate the nervous system, and help relieve stress. I find that dry brushing prior to my salt baths leaves me even more relaxed and is an essential part of my self-care and detox routine. Here's a short video demonstrating how to dry brush correctly.
