Many individuals don’t get enough sleep for a variety of reasons. The reasons I hear most often? I need my alone time! I like my “down time,” so I go to bed later, because evening and night is when I have my “alone time.” My encouragement is to begin making sleep a priority. Incorporate self-care into your sleep hygiene routine into your evening “alone time.” Sleep is the first thing you need to get fixed if you want to get your brain, energy, and life back!
My sleep routine has become my most precious commodity today. I guard it with my life, because it has had such a huge impact on my health and wellness. I have even declined evenings out, group meetings, family gatherings that are going too late into the evening. If you want me there, it needs to be earlier, because I know I am the one who will deal with the fallout of poor health outcomes if I don’t regularly advocate for myself.
